Organiser’s Comments:

When dawn broke on Sunday morning and I saw my car with a thick covering of frost, my greatest concern was that the battery would let me down and I would be stranded at home with crucial elements of the event equipment.  As soon as the engine fired up I knew that all would be well.  And so it was!  By 10.00 a.m. the Wimborne team machine was in full swing and I was more-or-less redundant.

I hope everyone enjoyed the benefits of Sandford Middle School as an Event Centre.  Mains toilets and hot showers within easy walking distance of the Start and Finish are as rare as hens teeth.  So a very big thank you to SMS for allowing us to make full use of the School’s facilities.

A big thank you is also due to the competitors and friends who spent so generously at the PTA’s food outlet.  Despite the modest pricing regime the PTA took over £300, which will make a healthy contribution to their funds.  One funny story however.

A certain teacher at SMS took on the role of advisor to the PTA.  And so it was that veggie burgers were to be found on the menu (orienteers are really healthy people you know.  Many don’t eat meat!).  By the end of the day the PTA had dispensed just one veggie burger!  Guess who has rather a lot of veggie burgers in their freezer now (no not me)!
