Controller’s Comments

Thanks for coming along to Gore Heath on a fresh & crisp January morning—I think I had the best of the forest at 8am:  frosty, silent.

A vote of thanks goes to David Bland who did all the hard work in planning the event.

I thought the event offered fast and varied terrain, with controls permitting competitors to approach at speed, while others required accurate techniques.

At the finish I listened to comments fresh from the competitors - it sounded like several were caught out with the contour detail in the centre of the map, which offered challenging navigation as well as it being physically hard to cross...and, of course, there was my wife who took 19 minutes to find her first control.  Nice planning!
