Comments from the day 1 organiser: Building up to the Caddihoe I was quite concerned I wasn't quite organised enough. My responsibilities were fairly minimal thanks for David Bland who was overall co-ordinator and ensured everything was in place. However I had to organise the teams for Wessex. Many of the usual helpers were unavoidably detained from assisting, but thankfully members already doing one job offered to help in other ways and we had several volunteers from Wimborne, all eager to ensure we had a successful event. On the day my fears were proven to be wrong, we had plenty of people assisting and on several occasions had people surplus to requirement! Many thanks has to go to the volunteers, new as well as experienced. As usual, there are always people ready at hand to give advise and make my job a whole lot easier. Without these experienced people who know what they're doing and take up tasks without having to be asked, the event would not have been such a success. I also try to give new club members responsibilities so that they can feel part of the gang and feel as if they are contributing something back to the club - hopefully they appreciate helping as much as I appreciate their assistance! Both days 1 and 2 showed good working relationships between Wessex and Wimborne and apart from a glitch with the computers on day 2, we could not have asked for a smoother event. Even the drizzling rain on Sunday was nice and cooling after the bright sun in the morning! There are so many people that I would like to thank that I cannot list them for fear of missing someone off. However special thanks has to go to Cris Tween who did an excellent job with the entries, preparing the dibbers for hire, organising the registration according to how many maps were left and working in the download tent. Also to David Bland as co-ordinator and Roger Crickmore for his first attempt at planning a large event and providing excellent courses. Well done to all. Sian Barber
