Day 1 Planner’s Comments

Planning an event at Bovington North presents a number of specific challenges, not least the formidable barbed wire fence surrounding the central area and needing permission from both the Army and the Marines for each planning trip.

The area is not the most difficult to navigate over so trying to achive courses of the highest technical difficulty was a challenge. The start/finish were on the edge of the most technical area so to make life more interesting it was decided put both the first and last controls of all the TD5 courses in this area.

As a first time planner I was helped by both the Controller John Warren (WIM) and Bill Brown (WSX) who took on the task of producing all the maps and control description sheets. On a number of occasions one or other (or both) would gently remind me that there were certain tasks that would soon be needing my attention. Many thanks to both of them.
