Organisers’s Comments

This was the second Dorset Score Championships, and with the entry up 50% on last year, a

pleasing success which reflects on the progress of the Schools League although we need to try to get

more secondary schools involved. As National School Champions, it was hardly surprising that

Clayesmore Seniors School retained their title, but the Junior competition was much tighter, with

Clayesmore Prep beating Sandford and retaining their title by the smallest possible margin, 10 points

(one control).

Moors Valley is an area which has been denied to orienteers for almost 10 years whilst the country

park was being established - it was one of Wimborne Orienteers most heavily used areas before

then. We are now welcome again and plans are in hand to establish a permanent course here within

the next six months.

Our thanks must go in particular to John Warren for surveying & drawing the map and planning the

courses and to all those senior members of Wimborne, Wessex and Weyor, for giving up their time to

help on the day of the event. The slaves working out the results did an extremely taxing job very well - thanks.

Dick Keighley (WIM)
