Controller's Comments.
Ringwood Forest is not the easiest area to plan on nor to
navigate around. Stephen's courses made use of the best of the area (indeed
several people commented on this fact) but nevertheless for some of you the
going underfoot made for an arduous time. Whilst there is little we could have
done about this I feel that two or three of the courses were on the long side
for which I apologise. I had initially persuaded Stephen to shorten some
courses and keep the competitors of more advanced years away from the worst of
the undergrowth and brashings but with hindsight they could have been
shortened more.
Despite this I know that many were impressed with the shape
of their courses and the accuracy of the control placing. A lot of effort went
into bringing this event to fruition (indeed Stephen was in the forest at
05.00 placing control boxes before changing into uniform for a Remembrance Day
Parade while the event was going on, later returning to arrange control
collecting). And a major bonus was the fantastic weather on the day, for
which, as Controller, I take full credit!!!!!
